NESTOR’S PALACE The archaeological site of Nestor’s Palace is situated on the hill of Ano Englianos, approximately 4 km south of Chora and 17 km north of Pylos. Traces of human activity have been documented there since the Final Neolithic period (4000-3100 BC). In the Middle Helladic period (2050-1680 BC), a settlement with fortification walls was established. The splendid Mycenaean palace complex was two-storied, featuring large courtyards, numerous storage spaces, private apartments, workshops, baths, staircases, light wells, and a drainage system.
